Copacabana

Copacabana NSW 2251

One road in and no through-traffic, a fiercely local surf town held together by the flags, the lagoon and the point.

Life at Copacabana.

Copacabana, ‘Copa’ to everyone who lives here, is a beach community with no through-road and no reason to be anywhere else. Cradled between Cockrone Lagoon and a long surf beach, it’s the kind of place where the only traffic is the morning surf check. This is sacred ground for us: it was here, with a caravan and a handshake, that George Brand first started selling the Central Coast in 1970. The suburb has kept its character ever since, a genuine surf town, fiercely local, where the SLSC, the lagoon and the beach hold the community together and the houses are handed between families who don’t want to leave. Homes climb the hillsides for ocean views or sit close to the lagoon flats, and they’re tightly held. Buyers who land a place in Copa tend to understand exactly what they’ve found and rarely let go.
