Mount White NSW 2250

Acreage country on the Old Road, with national park on three sides and the M1 at the gate.

Life at Mount White.

Mount White is the Central Coast at its quietest. This is acreage country, a scatter of properties along the ridge between the Hawkesbury and Mooney Mooney Creek, with national park on almost every side and more wildlife than neighbours. Most people know it from the Old Road. The old Pacific Highway winds through the middle of the suburb and on any weekend it carries a steady stream of motorbikes and cyclists down from Sydney, many of them stopping at The Old Road Cafe for a bacon and egg roll before the run home. Homes rarely come up for sale here, usually only a handful in any year, and they tend to sit on five acres or more. For buyers who want space, privacy and a fast run to Sydney, the M1 interchange at Mount White is the quiet advantage. Hornsby is half an hour and the city not much more.

Life in Mount White.

The Old Road · Weekend rides

The most famous stretch of road on the coast

The old Pacific Highway through Mount White is a rite of passage for Sydney motorcyclists. The bends between the Hawkesbury and Calga fill with bikes every weekend, and The Old Road Cafe does a roaring trade in coffee and war stories.

Popran National Park · Bushland

National park in every direction

Popran National Park and Brisbane Water National Park wrap around the suburb, so the bush views from most properties will never be built out. Walking trails, wallabies and lyrebirds come as standard.

Tourist Drive 33 · Farm gates

Farm gates up the ridge

Follow the ridge north through Peats Ridge and Kulnura and you find roadside stalls selling avocados, citrus and flowers. Tourist Drive 33 is the locals' idea of a Sunday shop.

Acreage living · Space

Room to spread out

Properties here start at a couple of hectares and go up from there. Horses, sheds, dams and long driveways are the norm, and neighbours are close enough to help but too far away to hear.
